The customer’s request

Following a breakdown and subsequent interruption of a transformer within a plant, BKW Hydro Italia, a company active in the energy, buildings and infrastructure sector, asked Tamini for a solution to replace the machine and minimize production loss time.

Tamini’s solution

After an initial inspection at the customer’s power plant, Tamini proposed to replace the faulty transformer with one from among those to be reconditioned available in its transformers fleet. In the meantime, Tamini repaired the damaged transformer.

Project Stages

After identifying, together with the customer, the transformer that meets the characteristics conforming to the plant, Tamini carried out the transformer permutation operation. The faulty transformer was transported to Tamini’s workshop, and the temporary transformer was installed and commissioned for the recovery of BKW Hydro Italia’s production. While the temporary transformer ensured continuity of service, Tamini carried out inspection and diagnostics of the damaged machine. After defining the method of repair by mutual agreement with the customer, Tamini proceeded with the repair of the transformer through complete rewinding, downstream of which it carried out the testing activities and the implementation of the reverse permutation intervention. After disassembling and transporting the rental transformer to Tamini’s workshop, the repaired transformer was installed, ready to guarantee service again.
